A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. A private inurnment will be held at Martin Creek Cemetery in Marion, Iowa.
Bob was born on October 3, 1954, in Nevada, Iowa, the son of Robert and Mildred (Hadding) Cummings Sr. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1972 and went on to attend Northwest Missouri State University. He married Jeanene Marie Littrel on May 7, 1977, at Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Eagle Center, Iowa. He retired in 2022 from his position as a foreman at Iowa Bridge and Culvert, where he had served for 38 years. Throughout his career, he earned multiple awards for his exceptional skills and leadership.
He had a love for the cinema and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He enjoyed traveling to Mexico with his beloved wife, Jeanene, before her passing in 2012. He was known as a jack-of-all-trades and for his dry sense of humor; he may have been a man of few words, but he was wise and full of kindness. He enjoyed playing 48-card solitaire because the last four cards are under the couch somewhere.
He is survived by his children, Joshua (Angela Kohn) Cummings, Stevie (Luke) Anderson; granddaughter, Nyla Anderson; siblings, Donna Borton, Bonita Fleming, Letia (Lowell) Martin, Rodger (Brenda) Cummings, Karla (Jack) Merten, Steve Cummings, Victoria (Sam) King.
He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse, Jeanene; sister, Virginia Cummings; brother-in-law, Art Borton; sister-in-law, Marcie Saxton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
