Ruth Elaine (Ambuehl) Otten, 93, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House after a fall. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 11:30 am at Teahen Funeral Home by Pastor Bonnie Koeppen to celebrate Ruth’s life. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at a later date.
Ruth was born on September 10, 1932, in Monticello, IA to Rudolph and Mae Ambuehl. She married the love of her life, Bobbie Otten, on February 27, 1951. Ruth worked for many years in the banking industry. After retirement she was a greeter at Teahen Funeral Home.
Bob and Ruth loved to travel. They liked to take day trips and occasionally take longer vacations. They loved to go to auctions, flea markets, swap meets and antiquing with their special friends. She took great pride in her family and cherished time spent with them.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Barbara (Blaine) Waychoff, granddaughter Abby (Dan Murauski) Waychoff, great-grandsons Orrie and Forrest Murauski and her grandson-in-law Ben Powell. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Otten, son Robert Otten, granddaughter Brianne Waychoff, her sisters Margaret DeWalt and Dorothy Samuelson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Courageous in Ruth’s honor.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House for their compassionate care and support.
