Donald “DJ” Carpenter passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 1, 2025. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Cedar Memorial Park Stateroom. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary for DJ, under the video tab starting at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born on September 18, 1948, in Dubuque, IA to Robert and Martha (Meyer) Carpenter. He married Geri (Rogstad) on September 30, 1972. DJ worked in many professions including realty, sales and the CR Gazette. He was a member of many organizations, including the Cedar Rapids Metro Parkinson's Association and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. DJ loved car racing, the Iowa Hawkeyes, boating, Corvettes, and a visit to Dairy Queen for a sweet treat.
He cherished time with his family and was loved by all.
DJ is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geri; children Carrie Weers (Tim) and Melissa Wagner (Justin); grandchildren Calissa Wilson (Jack), Camryn, Erika and Mason; siblings, sister-in-law Kathy Carpenter, Nancy McClannahan, Dennis (Rosa) Carpenter, Dan (Kristie) Carpenter, Donna (Scott) Hoffmann; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Martha Carpenter, brother Dave Carpenter, aunt Roberta Meyer and cousin Gary Marsch.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Cedar Rapids Metro Parkinson's Association and Essence of Life Hospice.
