Darrel Glen Geltz

Darrel Glen Geltz was born to Dorothy Winter Geltz and Glen Geltz on July 11, 1942, and grew up in Brandon, IA. He earned his wings on November 5, 2025. His service will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa, officiated by Pastor Rodney. Visitation from 9-11 a.m. with the service following. There will be a private burial.
Iowa Cremation has taken Darrel into their care.
From a previous marriage, Darrel had four children. He then met and married the love of his life, Beverly Rettenmeier. To this union, there were two children.
Darrel was a hard-working man who took great pride in his work, yard, and garden. He was very proud to have gotten the designation of "Yard of the Week". Most of all, he enjoyed his time with his family. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. His career included working in the lumber/hardware business until he became part-owner of Anamosa Lumber Co. After the sale of the lumberyard, he started his own business, Home Decorating Center in Anamosa, until his retirement. He thoroughly enjoyed socializing at his shop with friends and family over morning coffee.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly, his parents, and his brother Richard.
He is survived by his 6 children, Rhonda, Kim, Rod, Dawn, Jason, Pamela, fifteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. We all wish we had had more time with him.
The family would like to thank his caregivers at Anamosa Care Center, UnityPoint Hospice, Dr. Kilburg, and the doctors and nurses at Mercy Dialysis for the care given to him over the past few months.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriners Hospital Chicago.
