Doris M. Holtkamp, 92, died peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
A graveside service for her family will be held next April at Mounds Cemetery, near Timewell, IL.
Doris was the middle child of five (Dorothy, Donald, Doris, Darlene and Daniel) born to Clarence and Ruby (Berry) Holtkamp on April 22, 1933, in Gilson, IL. She grew up in many small towns all over the State of Illinois until the family moved to Benton, IL in 1945 where she graduated from high school in 1951. She moved to Iowa City in 1953 and has been a long-time resident ever since.
After graduation from high school, she began a secretarial career spanning over 40 years, 36 of which were at the VA Medical Center where she was the Secretary to the Medical Center Director for the last 20 years.
After retirement, she continued working with temp work at ACT and volunteer activities which included her former church, the VNA flu clinics and the RSVP program. She is survived by her younger brother, Daniel (Jean), Dubuque, Iowa, as well as nieces and nephews.
