Leonard L. Baker II, age 73, of Lisbon, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025 in Hospice of Mercy in Hiawatha, IA.
Leonard was born on November 23, 1951, in Vinton. He was the son of Leonard and Juanita (Porter) Baker. He grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971. Leonard was a man of many trades but retired from Penford Products. After retiring he worked part-time at the Sleep Inn in Mount Vernon, IA until his death.
Leonard enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, bowling, going to casinos, telling stories that got larger with each retelling and watching Iowa Hawkeye and Kansas City Chiefs football.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Baker; his 3 children, Velvet Baker of Surprise, AZ, Leonard Baker III of Lisbon and Briana Baker of Marion; 3 siblings, Warren Carney of Waynesville, MO, John Baker of Longmont, CO and Debra (Charles) Langton of Ely; his 8 grandchildren, Ethan, Riley, Lily, Sawyer, Jesper, Logan, Levi and Oliver; his 4 great-grandchildren, Sam, Mia, Ruby and Elaine; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his older brother Thomas Carney and by his older sister Beatrice Davis.
A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm Thursday, Oct. 30 at Sleep Inn in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Burial will be determined at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his family.
