This is the time of year in which things really click for the girls’ cross country team at South Winneshiek.
The Warriors invariably peak in time for the state-qualifying meet, and ultimately the state championships.
South Winn takes a No. 2 ranking into its Class 1A state-qualifier Thursday at Mason City.
The state field will be completed Thursday; 2A and 1A meets are statewide. In 2A, the top three teams and the top 15 individuals advance from each site to Fort Dodge next weekend. In 1A, it’s the top two teams and 10 runners from each site.
