CEDAR RAPIDS — A bakery and Cajun restaurant is moving to downtown Cedar Rapids.
K.C. Cakes and Cajun, opened in November 2023 at NewBo City Market, will soon relocate to the Armstrong Centre, 210 Third Ave. SE.
Owners Krystan Proctor and Alex Cooley tentatively plan to open the new location in early November. Their original location in NewBo City Market will close when their lease ends on Dec. 28.
With the move, K.C. Cakes and Cajun plans to serve a later crowd for dinner, with late hours on weekends for bar and theater patrons.
The owners plan to expand the menu to offer more fried foods and build on its southern Cajun cuisine.
“We’ve not had the space to be able to do what we need to do,” Proctor said. “This gives us more freedom to get out there and add what we want to add.”
