Monica “Moni” Louise Harris, 90, of, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at The Views of Marion.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Georgetown, Iowa, located 8 miles west of Albia on highway 34, with a visitation beginning one hour prior. The Rite of Committal will follow at the church cemetery.

Moni was born on November 27, 1934, in Osceola, Iowa, the daughter of Lowell and Evelyn (Arney) Boehme. She graduated from Albia High School and went on to attend business school in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. On November 17, 1956, she married the love of her life, Donald “Don” Joseph Harris, at St. Augustin’s Catholic Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Together they shared nearly 60 wonderful years, raising their four children and building a life of faith, family, and love before Don’s passing in 2016.
The couple began their early married life in Des Moines, where their first three children—Randy, Laurie, and Tim—were born. They later settled in Cedar Rapids and added sweet baby Mark to their family. They owned and operated ServiceMaster Cleaning and Restoration for 46 years. Moni was an active member of St. Pius X Parish and School. She found joy in reading, quilting, tole painting, and ceramics.
In retirement, Don and Moni enjoyed living in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by cousins and friends. In 2006 they returned to Iowa to be closer to their sons and their families, before moving to Idaho in 2016 to be near their daughter, son-in-law and family. In Idaho, Moni was a member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Meridian. She developed a love of jazz music, supporting artists through the Sun Valley Jazz Festival, and even enjoyed a Caribbean jazz cruise in 2022.
Moni recently returned to her beloved home state of Iowa, where she was reunited with her children before entering her eternal rest with our Heavenly Father. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She was the rock and stronghold of their lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children: Randy (Maureen) Harris and their daughter Kelly Jo (children Elli Jo, Knoxx and Lucy) great grandson Keaton; Laurie (Peter) Hingtgen and daughters Jennifer (Mark) Miller (children Max and Finley); Allison (Brian) Couch (daughter Teresa); Tim Harris (sons Matthew and Jacob); Mark (Kelly) Harris and (daughter Maddie Mae).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Lowell Boehme; her husband, Donald Harris; and her grandson, Leland Harris.
Memorials in Moni’s memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Georgetown, Iowa.
