Richard Haugen
Richard Haugen
Marion
Richard Haugen, 68, of Marion, died on Monday, October 6, 2025. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Friends are welcome to visit at 10 a.m. at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW in Cedar Rapids.
Richie was born on May 13, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Walter W. and Mary E. (Norris) Haugen. He lived at REM Iowa where he made many, many friendships over the years, and was quick to offer a smile to anyone he met. However, nothing made him smile like his art.
Richie was an avid artist and loved to color, paint, or draw any time he could. If you didn’t find him creating new art, you could find him outside, enjoying the day, still with his bright smile, that would light up your heart.
Richie is survived by his sisters E. Kathleen DeWitt, and Dot Haugen; brothers Benjamin Haugen, and Max Haugen; niece Tonia Carabajal; nephew Mark Hein; and all the wonderful care workers and family he made at Rem Iowa.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew Brian DeWitt.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous.
