The NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder have added wing Payton Sandfort from Iowa to their training camp roster.
Sandfort originally joined the Thunder in June. He was on their NBA Summer League roster but didn’t play because he was rehabbing from surgeries to two torn labrums.
Sandfort signed an Exhibit 10 contract. It’s likely he will be waived soon and will then be set up to join the G League’s Oklahoma City Blue. He’ll receive a bonus worth up to $85,300 if he spends 60 days with the Blue.
As a senior last season, Sandfort started in all 33 games for Iowa. He averaged 16.7 points and 6.0 rebounds. He played in 134 games as a Hawkeye.
