Beverly Joann Hegarty, 89, of Stanwood, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital. A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow the visitation and begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Joann was born on August 17, 1936, to Frank and Carmaletta (Johnson) Lala in Walker, Iowa. She graduated from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She Married Donald “Jr.” Hegarty on February 7, 1964, in Dubuque, Iowa. She co-founded Junction Auto Sales with her husband.
She enjoyed watching sports, especially NASCAR, cheering on Chase Elliott. Joann was a good housekeeper and a wonderful cook. She loved her family and cherished the time spent with them. She was a faithful member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Stanwood and loved her church family.
Joann is survived by her loving children, Pastor Randy (Julie) Kruse, Gregory (Beth) Hegarty, Rhonda (Mike) Gutwiler, and Jill (Joe Miller) Hegarty; grandchildren, Michelle, Grant, Jessy, Rachel, Tyler, Nathan, and Austin (Abby); seven great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Zvacek; along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister Mardella Kurka.
