Auntie Anne’s plans opening at Lindale Mall, replacing Pretzelmaker

CEDAR RAPIDS — When one pretzel door closes, another one opens.

When Pretzelmaker announced the closure of its Lindale Mall location in September, it seemed like the end of an era for mall pretzels after an 18-year tenure.

Now, news from Lindale Mall has surfaced announcing the opening of an Auntie Anne’s in its place.

“We’ve had so many fun and tasty moments with Pretzel Maker, and it's bittersweet to see them closing,” Lindale Mall said in a September social media post. “But don’t worry, the treat journey isn’t ending just yet! We’re excited to welcome Auntie Anne's soon!”

An opening date has not yet been announced.

Pretzelmaker franchise owners Lisa Vanderlind and Steve Blum are still in business with a different drive-thru location at 1115 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, which opened in July 2023.
