One of Many who are Turning 80! Happy Birthday,

Charles (Charlie) Spicher

CEDAR FALLS - Charles (Charlie) Spicher will

celebrate his 80th birthday with a family dinner and card shower.

He was born June 25, 1937, in Vinton, IA, a son of Harold and Celia Hughes Spicher. He married

Shirley Holst in Vinton on August 14, 1960; she died January 20, 2013.

They were blessed with three children, Steven (Connie) Spicher of Vinton, Shelly (Warren) Riley of Tama, and Holly (Brian) Boerhave of Cedar Falls; plus seven grandchildren, Erin Spicher Swan,

Emily Spicher, Dionne and Abbey Riley, and

Sarah, Rebekah and Ben Boerhave.

Charlie came to Waterloo in December 1962 to work for Brice, Petrides and Associates, which subsequently became known as Earthtech by the time he retired in October 1999 (it's now known as AECOM), thus ending his career as a civil

transportation engineer.

During his retirement, he has continued

membership in Waterloo Kiwanis, several bowling leagues, Circulators Square Dance Club and

Westminster Presbyterian Church, plays in the UNI New Horizons Band and enjoys walking, bicycling, kayaking and family gatherings.
