Kent Hamlett of Marion, IA passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, surrounded by his family, in Cedar Rapids. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment will be private.
Kent was born July 21, 1955. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. His belief in the Lord grew stronger daily. Kent was a man of few words but anyone that knew him admired his dry sense of humor.
Kent worked for Seedorf Masonry Inc. of Strawberry Point for 44 years and was well known across the State for his articulate talent. After retiring he went back to work at Menards in Marion. In the last few months Kent and Irene spent many days going for rides, ending up at Walmart, Sam’s and a once-a-month trip to Tama. They were inseparable and were filled with love for each other.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Irene (Crawford); children, Jeff (Molly) Hamlett of Madison, WI, and Jackie (Justin) Harris of Marion; grandchildren, Keegan (Katherine) Xander, Makenna, Aoife, Seamus and Thurston; siblings, Janet (Danny) Bockenstedt, Jerry (Larita) Hamlett, Cindy (Jerae) Buechler and David (Wendy) Hamlett; in-laws Victor (Sharon) Crawford, Mary (Walt) Scull, Rob (Cheri) Crawford, Shirley Crawford and Diana (Leon) Lindsay; and many nieces and nephews.
Kent is preceded in death by his parents; and parents-in-law.
