Sylvia Fay Risner, 78, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone. Private family graveside services will be held at the Keystone Cemetery. Casual dress is encouraged.
Fay was born on October 20, 1946, in Vernon County, Missouri to William & Sylvia (Bright) Bullock. She attended public school in Vernon County and graduated from Keystone High School in Keystone, Iowa, with the class of 1964. In June of 1964, Fay married Harold D. Risner Sr. in Keystone. They had 3 children, Harold Duane Risner Jr., Kathleen, and Andy Dale Risner.
She loved her life on the farm and worked as a CNA at the Keystone Nursing Care Center for 15 years. She developed a knack for writing and self-published over 65 books as the “Books by Fay” series. She also enjoyed quilting and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harold of Keystone; son, Harold Duane Risner Jr.; brother, John (Diane) Bullock of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Aubrey (Mary Knee) Risner of Belle Plaine; sisters-in-law, Helen (Virgil) Witt of Belle Plaine and Kathy Wisecarver of State Center; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Kathleen and Andy Dale, shortly after birth; brother Bill and wife Minnie Bullock; in-laws, Henry and Minnie Risner; sister-in-law Connie Risner and brother-in-law Jerry Wisecarver.
