A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Thursday night after police say he went to a bar and threatened patrons with a gun.
Drannon Kenny, 61, is charged with two counts of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, and one count each of intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent, operating while under the influence, and carrying a weapon while intoxicated.
According to a criminal complaint, Kenny was caught on video surveillance pointing a gun with a laser at Nick’s Bar, at 4958 Johnson Ave NW, and chasing someone while pointing the gun at them. Two people reported to police that Kenny pointed a gun at them in the parking lot of the bar Thursday night.
Before pointing his gun at the building, Kenny had been operating a vehicle. When police arrived, they administered a field sobriety test, which Kenny failed. He was arrested and taken to the Linn County Correctional Jail where he provided a breath test that registered at 0.154 blood alcohol content, the complaint states.
As of Friday morning, Kenny had not yet had his first appearance in court.
