Mary LaVonne Dozier, 96, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Hiawatha Care Center. Private family services will be held. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Mary was born on February 5, 1929, in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Johnson) Mulvaney. She married James Dozier on February 20, 1948, in Blairstown. They shared many loving years together until his passing on April 5, 2006. A devoted homemaker, Mary dedicated her life to raising her family. After her children were grown, she continued to share her love and care by babysitting for others.
Mary was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church. She found great joy in being a mother and grandmother, took pride in her family, and delighted in baking for those she loved.
Mary is survived by her children: Dennis Dozier, Jeff (Karen) Dozier, Bob (Mary) Dozier, Suzanne Hepker, Diana Dozier, Jayne Dozier, Gloria Schultz (Tom Treichler), and Doug (Beth) Dozier; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; son, Curtiss; and sisters, Darlene Almond and Barbara Solone.
Memorials may be directed to The Arc of East Central Iowa.
