KaLyn Nekola, 83, of Elberon, IA passed away September 21, 2025 at Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids, IA.
KaLyn was born July 21, 1942, to Melvin and Mildred (Linhart) Ribby in Toledo, IA. She attended Toledo High School. Following school, KaLyn married Ervern Nekola. She followed her husband through his military career, moving to Tacoma, WA. Following his service, they moved back home to Elberon to raise their family, building a home in 1968.
KaLyn was blessed to spend many years with her children as a homemaker. She was also an owner/operator of Cut and Wrap Butcher Shop in Elberon, detasseled corn and was the laundry supervisor at Keystone Care Center.
KaLyn enjoyed crafts, and gardening. Together with Ervern, they liked collecting things and finding new places to eat. She supported her community with many hours of volunteering and was a member of the Elberon American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Debra (Dave) Tisue, Dan Nekola both of Elberon; grandchildren, Dayna Struve, Deedre Davidson, Clinton and Chloe Nekola; great-grandchildren, Cole, Brayden, Parker, Easton, Bailey, Dom, Ryan, Kaiven; great-great-granddaughter, Oaklee; along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
KaLyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervern; brothers, Gene, Tom, Ribby; and beloved dog, Smoky.
Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine with visitation one hour prior to the service.
