Rose Ann was born on January 6, 1934, to Martin and Agnes Kinney, and grew up on a farm near Cosgrove. After graduating from high school in Cosgrove in 1952, she spent some time working at First National Bank in Iowa City. Her heart, however, remained with the countryside, and she returned to farm life when she married the love of her life, Ron Loan, on April 12, 1955. Together, they began their journey on a farm in North Liberty before settling on the family farm near Cosgrove, where they built a life filled with love and dedication.
Rose Ann embraced the farm life, especially the joy of preparing meals during planting and harvest seasons. A fresh-baked chocolate cake could always be found in Rose’s kitchen. She cherished time spent with loved ones, often gathered around a table for lively card games with family, friends, and neighbors.
Rose Ann had a passion for travel, and she and Ron shared countless adventures over nearly 69 years of marriage. Yet, her greatest joy came from her family. She was deeply proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and felt truly blessed to witness the lives of 18 great-grandchildren.
Her family includes her children, Randy Loan (Marcia), Rick Loan, Richard Loan (Pam), and Rachel Quinlan (Tom); 11 grandchildren, Tami Abkes (Keith), Tara Wiltrout (Jake), Christy Rozinek (Justin), Stephanie Marquardt (Tim), Jessica Arthur (Jim), Nick Quinlan (Hannah), Wes Quinlan, Ben Hines (Nikki), Dylan Hines (Taylor) and Chelsea Hines; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ron; grandson, Ryan Quinlan; and brother and his wife, Larry and Jan Kinney.
Rose’s presence will be profoundly missed, but the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her unwavering love and devotion to family continue to be a guiding light and lasting inspiration.
