Carol Marie Knapp, 87, of Marion, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Mercy Medical Center surrounded by family. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carol had 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Renee and wife San-Juana and extended family from Texas. Also surviving are sisters, Dorothy (Darrel) Fisher of Marion, and Nancy Des Combes of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Ronald Eugene Knapp, her son Rich Knapp, her parents and Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Carol was born April 22, 1938, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Mollie (Nelson) Merritt. She was a graduate of Marion High School. Carol and Ronald were united in marriage on September 19, 1957, in Belton, Texas. She worked for Country Kitchen and local restaurants in Cedar Rapids before retiring in food service with St. Luke’s Hospital. Carol enjoyed reading, word search, word puzzles and cooking. Carol and Ronald enjoyed their Marion Neighborhood, where they often visited on their front porch with their neighbors. The family would like to give special thanks to her granddaughter, Jill and husband and their son, for the special love and care they gave to Carol. Also, would like to thank her niece Becky from Kansas for keeping in touch through the years with loving phone calls.
