Shelly Sue Johnson, 62 years old, resident of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 11, 1963, in Cedar Rapids Iowa, Shelly was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend and devoted Christian, whose kindness, strength, and warmth touched everyone she met. Shelly dedicated her life to raising her children guided by an unwavering faith in God.
Shelly is survived by her husband, Michael Johnson; children, Chelsie Johnson, Emma Price, Evan Johnson, Hannah Higgins, Lydia Azuma, Bethany Addison, Andrew Johnson, Luke Johnson, Addy Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Gabe Johnson; sisters, Dawn Verbick, Kelly Julius; 12 grandchildren, 4 nieces and nephews; and her mother, Carol Potter. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Verbick.
A viewing will be held at Westside Bible Chapel on September 14 from 4-6 PM. All are welcome to attend and rejoice in the hope of resurrection. “Well done, good and faithful servant enter into the joy of your Lord.” -Matthew 25:23.
A celebration of her life will be held on September 15 at 1 PM at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1415 South Topeka St., Wichita, KS 67211. Shelly will be buried in Wichita, Kansas on September 15.
