Tamsyn Rene Phifer and James Brannan Johnston were united in marriage on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids, IA. The Rev. Dr. Mary Johnston presided over the four o'clock in the afternoon ceremony. Tamsyn is the daughter of Dr. James and Linnie Phifer, Cedar Rapids. Brannan is the son of Dr. James and Elta Johnston, Jackson, Mississippi.
The bride was attended by Rain Foster, Heather Giordano, Lea Johnston, and Jennifer Porter. Trystan Phifer-O'Leary served as the Matron of Honor.
The groomsmen were George Cheng, Timothy Gilman, Wes Jones, Gavin Oxman, and Joshua Simon. Dr. James Harvey Johnston III stood as the best man.
The flower girls were Addison Cummings and Madeline O'Leary. The ring bearers were Cooper Cummings, Jacob O'Leary, and Charlie Jones.
Dr. Robert Swaney, Mrs. Rachael Mills, Mrs. Susan Oglanian, and Dr. Paula Sanchini played selected prelude music. The ceremony included three musical pieces sung by Mr. Johnathan Dyrland, who was accompanied by Mrs. Doris Gitzy on the organ and the piano. Biblicial passages were read by Mrs. Lawton Cummings and Mr. Lou Stark.
An Elizabethan poem was read by Dr. James Phifer.
Immediately following the ceremony, the bride's family hosted a reception at Pleasant Hill, followed by a dinner and dance at the Cedar Rapids Country Club.
The newlywed couple honeymooned in The British Virgin Islands and Caneel Bay.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of The Colorado College, and earned a Doctorate in Higher Education at Columbia University 2010. The groom is a 1998 graduate of Princeton University, and received an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School of business 2006.
The couple resides in Newport Beach, California,where Brannan is Vice President and Managing Director at Experian.
