CORALVILLE — The Coralville City Council and mayoral races are starting to take shape two months out from the election.
The Coralville City Council is made up of five at large council members and a non-voting mayor. Council members serve staggered four-year terms and the mayor serves a two-year term.
Mayor Meghann Foster and council members Hai Hyunh, Mike Knudson and Laurie Goodrich’s council seats are up for election this fall.
Goodrich, who has served on the council since 2014, has filed to run for Coralville mayor.
Hyunh and Knudson have not made a public campaign announcement at this time.
Coralville resident Deb Gill, a retired financial analyst, this week announced her intention to run for a seat on the council. Gill has lived in Coralville since 1978.
Candidates have until Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. to file with the Johnson County Auditor’s office.
Absentee ballot requests now available
From now until 5 p.m. Oct. 20, eligible voters can request an absentee ballot from the county auditor’s office. Other early voting information still is being finalized.
Election Day is Nov. 4. All absentee ballots must be turned in by 8 p.m. that day to be counted.
