Marilyn Irene Noble, 92, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 29, 2025, at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Interment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Marilyn was born on January 25, 1933, in Paulding, OH. She was the only child of Bill and Irene Mentzer. Marilyn spent her childhood working behind the candy counter in her parents’ dime store. Marilyn graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. Marilyn and 7 classmates followed a surgeon from Ft. Wayne, IN, to Santa Monica, CA. Marilyn was asked by the surgeon to go with him to Chicago. There, Marilyn participated in research.
Marilyn’s career brought her back to Ft. Wayne, IN, where she met the love of her life, Ed Noble. They married April 12, 1958, and have enjoyed over 67 years of marriage. Over the years they have enjoyed traveling abroad and snow birding between Wisconsin and Florida/Alabama.
During her nursing career, Marilyn worked with iron lung patients, intensive care, surgery, cardiac care, supervision, and administration.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband Ed, a son Tom, two daughters, Teresa (John) and Jeanne; four grandchildren, Ben (Caylan), Alex, Katy (Zsolt), Rekha (Tim); and one great-grandson, Ezra.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Mercy or the Mercy Medical Center Foundation.
