CEDAR RAPIDS - The Iowa High School Athletic Association announced Wednesday it has reached agreements with multiple outlets for expanded televised coverage of championships in its sports.
Those outlets include Gray Media (which owns KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids), Marquee Sports Network, Nexstar and Mediacom. The IHSAA website also will provide free streaming.
The expanded coverage begins this fall with state football semifinals. It also includes the state wrestling dual tournament, semifinals of the traditional state wrestling tournament, the state swim meet, quarterfinals and semifinals of the state basketball tournament, the state track and field meet, state soccer tournament and all rounds of the state baseball tournament at both sites.
The IHSAA previously announced an agreement with Iowa Public Television for all state championship football and basketball games, as well as the final round of the traditional state wrestling meet.
“We’re thrilled to have tournament partners who will help us reach Iowa high school sports fans wherever they are and however they watch,” IHSAA Executive Director Tom Keating said in a statement. “Our debut broadcasts this fall will be a major step forward for easy and accessible coverage of IHSAA championships.”
