CEDAR RAPIDS — Two teenagers are facing multiple charges in relation to a shots fired incident earlier this month that sent one person to the hospital, according to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
Police responded to the parking lot of the Union Apartment complex in the 4200 block of 21st Ave. SW for a shots-fired report at 1:34 p.m. on Aug. 14.
A juvenile girl was taken in a personal vehicle to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries related to the shots-fired incident, according to the release.
On Aug. 18, Qwanell Beard, 17, and Artrell Beard, 16, were both arrested for violation of court-ordered placement and terms of probation.
They’ve been held in the Linn County Juvenile Detention Center since being arrested, and additional charges were filed this week.
According to the release, both teens are being charged as adults with first-degree robbery, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, assault while participating in a felony, going armed with intent, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, use of a dangerous weapon in commission of a crime, persons ineligible to carry dangerous weapons and possession of a dangerous weapon by a minor.
Charging documents for the teens with more information about the shots-fired incident were not yet available Wednesday afternoon.
