A Cedar Rapids man was injured when the SUV he was driving collided with a semi tractor trailer in Fayette County on Monday.
Jackson David Roushar, 21, of Cedar Rapids, was driving a Nissan Murano north on Cedar Road after 7 p.m. Monday when he ran the stop sign at Filmore Road, about 15 miles west of Elkader, and collided with an eastbound Freightliner semi tractor trailer, according to a news release from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Roushar was transported to the hospital for “serious injuries,” the release states.
The Nissan was a total loss, and the semi tractor trailer sustained approximately $80,000 in damages.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Wadena Fire, Elgin Fire & Ambulance, Gundersen Ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol.
The collision remains under investigation and charges are pending, the release states.
