Anthony “Tony” J. Mann, age 77, of Iowa City, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital, surrounded by family.
Visitation will be held from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, where there will be a funeral service held at 2:00 P.M. There will be a luncheon and time of fellowship at Faith Baptist Church following the funeral service. Born on June 29, 1948 in Galena, Illinois, Tony was the son of Harry and Ruth (Bartella) Collins. He grew up in Galena and graduated from Galena High School. Tony was united in marriage to Rose Symons on January 8, 1971 in Galena.
Tony worked various jobs over the years, but his life’s focus was helping others. He was an active, long-time member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and could often be found holding the doors on Sunday mornings. Tony was a man of many interests. He was very talented with woodworking, calligraphy and poetry. Tony believed that family is where life begins and love never ends.
Tony’s family includes his wife, Rose; his daughters, Linda (Dale) Lacey of Cody, Wyoming, Lisa (Jason) Sandry of Platteville, Wisconsin, and Leah (Kent) Olson of Cedar Rapids; twelve grandchildren: Dominique Mann, Audrey Mann, Jasmine (Greg) Stechman, Angel Welu, Jade Blaser, Sentrina Klostermann, John Wright, Joshua Wright, Esther Wright, Ben Wright, Faith Wright and Samual Wright; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Emily Nickols.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law.
