Two killed in Delaware County crash

A Monticello man and Delhi woman were killed in a head-on crash on Highway 38 in Delaware County near Hopkinton.
The crash happened on Highway 38 near the intersection of 310th Ave. around 6:15 p.m. Saturday night, according to a press release by the Iowa State Patrol.
Anthony N. Mentzer, 33, of Monticello, and Bobbi J. Bauers were killed in the crash, the patrol reported.
Investigators say Bauers was southbound on Highway 38 and crossed the centerline, hitting Mentzer head on. Both were pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner in Ankeny.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Delaware and Jones County sheriffs offices, Hopkinton Fire & EMS, Koob Towing and Leonard Funeral Home.
