Supporters of President Trump are in an uproar and demanding evidence of Jeffrey Epstein’s connections. Where is the uproar about the person serving as president who was found liable by a jury for defamation and sexual abuse?
QAnon followers believe the myth that powerful people are sexually abusing children and even killing them, but do not seem concerned over the lack of evidence. Their concern about protecting children is one that is widely supported. But how about being concerned about the welfare of all children?
When half of all children receive health care through Medicaid or state health programs, where is the concern for those whose medical care has just been cut? Where is the pressure to provide working parents with guaranteed parental leave? Where is the support for affordable, quality childcare for those working parents who keep our economy running? Where was the legislator’s concern when with Governor’s plan to refuse federal summer nutrition funding? It’s an insult to assume families that need support for summer meals are better served with a food box instead of federal dollars in the form of a food debit card.
Do we really value children when reproductive health care is disappearing in rural areas, yet women are exhorted to have more babies. Until state and federally elected officials go beyond lip service, and pass legislation with funding and enact policies to make significant increase in support for families, ignore the lip service about valuing children. Actions speak louder than words.
