Lew Finch was an educator. That describes a person who knows how to make positive changes. I had the privilege of working with him when he was Superintendent of the Cedar Rapids Community Schools.
Lew understood the art of communication. He connected with people. He understood his role and demonstrated what educators think, say and do. He left things better than he found them.
He understood the mission of public service. He was one of the many public servants who have improved our society. I knew him as a boss, a mentor, a kind person, and always a friend. I join all other educators, family and friends in celebrating his life.
