Here is a list of baseball players from Eastern Iowa and the University of Iowa who are playing in the major and affiliated minor leagues in the 2025 season. All of the statistics are through Thursday.
Five guys from Iowa have signed after being taken in last month’s 2025 Major League Baseball Draft or as a free agent following the draft. None of them have officially assigned to a team and likely won’t until next season.
Pitcher Cade Obermueller signed a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies after being a second-round pick that included a signing bonus of $1,197,500.
Daniel Wright went in the 10th round to the Chicago White Sox and signed a deal with a well-below-slot bonus of $7,500. Aaron Savary signed with the Cleveland Guardians for $150,000 after being selected in the 13th round.
Anthony Watts also received a $150,000 after signing with the St. Louis Cardinals (14th round). Catcher Daniel Rogers signed with the San Francisco Giants as a NDFA.
Marion High School grad Owen Puk was an 18th-round selection of the Washington Nationals out of Florida International University and also received a $150,000.
Keaton Anthony (Iowa/Philadelphia Phillies) — First baseman spent a little more than a week on the injured list in late June, but that’s a blip in a season that has seen him emerge as a prospect. Hitting .323 in 30 games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley (International League), with 10 doubles, two home runs and 10 RBIs. Recently listed as Phillies’ No. 14 prospect by www.mlbpipeline.com.
Jake Bockenstedt (Cedar Rapids Washington/Chicago White Sox) — Pitcher has made 18 appearances, 17 starts, for high-A Winston-Salem (South Atlantic League). Has 5-6 record and 4.95 earned run average. Less hits (77) than innings pitched (83 2/3).
Brody Brecht (Iowa/Colorado Rockies) — Righty pitcher spent not quite two months on the injured list at low-A Fresno (California League). Rehabbed with four short stints in Rookie ball and has made four short starts with Fresno upon his return, allowing four earned runs in 13 innings. Walked just one and struck out 20 in that span.
Duncan Davitt (Indianola/Iowa/Chicago White Sox) — Pitcher was involved in a deadline trade that moved him from Tampa Bay to the White Sox. Has spent most of the season in the starting rotation in Double-A, making four Triple-A starts for Durham (International League) before his trade, going 0-2 with a 6.30 ERA.
Jack Dreyer (Cedar Falls/Iowa/Los Angeles Dodgers) — Lefty reliever pitched to a 1.54 ERA in July (10 appearances) for the Dodgers. Is 2-2 with a save and 2.87 ERA in 42 outings overall this season.
Calvin Harris (Western Dubuque/Chicago White Sox) — Catcher has played 31 games this season in high-A and now 31 for Double-A Birmingham (Southern League), where he’s hitting .217 with a homer and 10 RBIs.
Grant Judkins (Pella/Iowa/Oakland Athletics) — Pitcher for high-A Lansing (Midwest League) leads the Midwest League in innings (102 2/3). Has a 6-7 record and 4.30 ERA.
Mitch Keller (Cedar Rapids Xavier/Pittsburgh Pirates) — Survived Thursday’s MLB trade deadline without getting moved. What kind of season has it been? Has a career-best ERA of 3.69 in 22 starts for Pittsburgh. Only 120 hits allowed in 127 innings. A 4-10 record speaks to a lack of run support offensively from his team.
Tate Kuehner (Marshalltown/Milwaukee Brewers) — Southpaw pitcher continues to do work for Double-A Biloxi (Southern League). Has made 20 starts, has 7-5 record and 2.61 ERA. Has allowed 78 hits in 96 2/3 innings, with 108 strikeouts.
Austin Krob (Lisbon/San Diego Padres) — Southpaw has been on the development list for Triple-A El Paso (Pacific Coast League) since early July. Is 0-1 with a 5.74 ERA in 20 appearances, six as a starter.
Ty Langenberg (Urbandale/Iowa/Minnesota Twins) — Righty pitcher has turned around his season the past two months for high-A Cedar Rapids (Midwest League), with a June ERA of 2.84 and July ERA of 3.58. Has 3-4 record and 5.09 ERA in 17 games overall, including 16 starts.
Adam Mazur (Iowa/Miami Marlins) — Right-handed pitcher has had 18 appearances, 15 starts, for Triple-A Jacksonville (International League). Is 6-5 with a 4.13 ERA.
Mason McCoy (Iowa/San Diego Padres) — Infielder has five hitless at-bats this season for the Padres. Vast majority of his season has been spent at Triple-A El Paso (Pacific Coast League), for which he has a .275 batting average 67 games, with a .795 OPS.
Ian Moller (Dubuque Wahlert/Texas Rangers) — Catcher hitting .215 in 55 games for Double-A Frisco (Texas League), with seven doubles, four homers and 19 RBIs.
Marcus Morgan (Iowa City West/Iowa/Philadelphia Phillies) — Continues to be on the 60-day disabled list for low-A Clearwater. Was 1-1 with a 10.13 ERA in eight appearances, four starts. Had walked 24 in 13 1/3 innings.
A.J. Puk (Cedar Rapids Washington/Arizona Diamondbacks) — Had four saves and a 3.38 ERA in eight relief appearances for Arizona before going on the injured list for the remainder of the season. Had surgery to insert a brace in his left elbow.
Sam Petersen (Iowa/Washington Nationals) — Injury has been a keyword, unfortunately, this season for the outfielder. Is at high-A Fredericksburg (South Atlantic League) and has a .301 batting average in 40 games. Has five homers, 20 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.
Colin Rea (Cascade/Northern Iowa/Chicago Cubs) — Righty pitcher is 8-5 with a save and 4.25 ERA in 22 games, 18 starts for the Cubs. Has allowed nine earned runs in nine innings over his last two starts.
Connor Schultz (Cedar Falls/Iowa/Chicago Cubs) — One-third of his 21 outings for high-Class A South Bend have been starts. Has a 1-4 record and 4.55 ERA. Has 54 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings.

Connor Van Scoyoc (Cedar Rapids Jefferson/Colorado Rockies) — Reliever ended July with a 2.41 ERA for Triple-A Albuquerque (Pacific Coast League), and that was with allowing five earned runs in his last two outings. Is 5-4 overall with a 4.37 ERA.
Trenton Wallace (Davenport Assumption/Iowa/Toronto Blue Jays) — Pitcher has made 18 appearances, eight starts, for Triple-A Buffalo (International League). Has an 0-1 record and 3.83 ERA. Has 55 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings and has given up just 35 hits, but has walked 30.
Peyton Williams (Johnston/Iowa/Toronto Blue Jays) — First baseman is on the development list for Double-A New Hampshire (Eastern League). Hitting .213 in 80 games with nine homers and 35 RBIs.
Keaton Winn (Pekin/Iowa Western Community College/San Francisco Giants) — A long IL stint has bamboozled the right-handed pitcher’s season. Back active now for Triple-A Sacramento (Pacific Coast League), where he is 1-1 with a 7.11 ERA in 11 outings, four starts.
Jack Young (Iowa/Chicago White Sox) — Pitcher got a promotion to high-A Winston-Salem (South Atlantic League) after dominating at low-A Kannapolis. Is 1-1 with a 5.17 ERA in eight appearances, one start, for W-S.
