The Linn County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report Thursday that a person was being held at gunpoint, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
The 911 caller reported that they were receiving text messages from a friend who they said was being held at gunpoint in an unknown location in Linn County. Later, the caller said their friend was in a vehicle traveling south on Highway 13 between Central City and Marion, and the person with the gun was also in the vehicle.
Law enforcement found the vehicle near the intersection of Highway 151 and Highway 13 and pulled it over. There were three people in the vehicle, and a gun, which all three denied possession of.
“The occupants of the vehicle did not cooperate with the investigation, and no one wanted to file any charges in this case,” the release states. “The firearm was seized, and the Linn County Sheriff’s Office is conducting further investigation as to who the owner of the firearm is or who had possession of the weapon.”
Seandon Hodges, 45, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a rabies vaccination violation from earlier this year, but no charges were filed in relation to the gun call, according to the release.
