Colleen J. Langreck was born February 4, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Dorothy (Trumpold) Graesser. She grew up in Middle Amana and attended the Amana Schools. Colleen was united in marriage to Kenneth Langreck on September 1, 1979 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo. She was employed at Amana Refrigeration for over 29 years and was a waitress at the Ronneburg Restaurant for over 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren; she would have done anything for her family and friends. Colleen was the kindest soul and loved meeting people that resulted in long lasting friendships. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all those that were blessed to know her. Colleen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a long courageous battle with cancer at the age of 72 years.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth of Marengo; two sons, Dustin (Kathy) Langreck of Tiffin and Shannon (Aimee) Langreck of Center Point; two daughters, Brooke (Ting) Soukthavone of Fairfax and Brandi (Mat) Mumm of Washington; three grandchildren, Kolton and Kaedyn Mumm, and Wyatt Langreck; sister Nancy Graesser; and brother Joel (Hazel) Graesser. She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Kaitlyn Mumm.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Marengo American Legion Hall. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Powell Funeral Home in Marengo. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. A general memorial fund has been established.
