Joan Frances Haman, 93, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, Monday, July 28, 2025 at St. Mary’s Church in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 10 AM at the Church, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Joan’s name.
Joan was born November 22, 1931 in Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Duttlinger) Sladek. She was a graduate of Iowa City City High School. On September 22, 1949 Joan married Richard Haman.
Joan and her husband owned and operated ABC Kiddie Shop for twenty years.
Joan is survived by her children, Joyce Showman, Judee Strommer, Janet (Dave) Dvorsky, and Jerry (Ruth) Haman; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Jessica, Stephanie, Shelby, Stacey, Richard, Sarah, Ashley, and Joshua; eight great-grandchildren and one expectant great-grandchild; and her sister-in-law, Nancy Sladek.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Richard and son, Jim and her siblings, Joe Sladek and Doris Roberts.
