Cedar Rapids
Dean “Deano” Ainesworth passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, just shy of his 74th birthday. Born on July 16, 1951, in Rock Island, Illinois, Deano lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering kindness.
He is survived by his wife Wendy Ainesworth; his children, Tracy Morris (Brian), Mike Ainesworth, Nic Ainesworth, and Christy Ainesworth (Bob); and a large, loving legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Deano is also survived by his siblings, Marla Gonzalez and Bill Ainesworth, as well as many nieces and nephews who adored their “Uncle Deano.”
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cathy Ainesworth; his sister, Judi Palmer; brother, Brian Ainesworth; granddaughter, Kaitlynn Ainesworth; and many other dear loved ones who welcomed him with open arms.
To know Deano was to love him. His laughter could light up a room, and his giving spirit touched the lives of everyone lucky enough to cross his path. Whether you met him once or knew him a lifetime, you never forgot him. He was a true friend to so many, a steady presence, always ready with a smile, a story, or a helping hand. He was a solid foundation for his family. He was not just an exceptional father/grandfather, he was a best friend.
Deano also found family at Nick’s Bar and Grill, where he shared countless memories, laughs, and lifelong friendships. His extended family there meant the world to him—and the feeling was mutual.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Dean’s honor on Saturday, August 16th from 2–5 PM at Nick’s Bar and Grill, 4958 Johnson Ave NW.All are welcome to come share memories, raise a glass, and celebrate a life well lived.
Dean “Deano” Ainesworth will be missed more than words can express, but his warmth, generosity, and unmistakable laugh will echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
As Deano would always say, “You got this.” And we’ll hold onto those words, just like we’ll hold onto him.
