A stolen car was discovered Thursday morning in the Iowa River by the Curtis Bridge Boat Ramp, near North Liberty, according to a news release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office was called at 6:41 a.m. Thursday to help with the recovery of the vehicle. It was near the boat ramp, about 3 or 4 feet deep with the top sticking out above the water. Other agencies that helped with the recovery include the North Liberty Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Johnson County Ambulance Service.
No one was in the car, and no searches of missing people are underway, according to the release.
The car had been reported stolen Wednesday at the Iowa City Police Department.
