Barb was born Barbara Linn Burr on November 15, 1960, in Muscatine, IA, the daughter of George A. Burr and Iona M. (Webb) Burr. She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1979 and attended Drury College in Missouri and Eden Seminary, where she earned her master’s degree. Barb was united in marriage to Jonathan P. (Jon) Muhs on August 17, 2003, in Lowden.
Barb was a teacher and a minister, both roles requiring a keen attention to detail and a deep care for her students and church members. Her last pastorate was in Lincoln, IA, at Salem Church; she retired in 2024.
Her interests included music, traveling, crafting, and searching for a “great bargain.” Barb took joy in encouraging her students to strive for their best and made lasting connections through her compassionate ministry.
Barb is survived by her husband, Jon Muhs of Lowden, IA; and her sisters, Pat Mundell and Nancy Wangberg, both of Muscatine, IA. She loved her nieces, Tory and Ashley, and her nephews, Matthew and Nathan. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Iona Burr; her sister, Rose Marie Burr; and her brother, James A. Burr.
