CEDAR RAPIDS — Two men were arrested Sunday night after a stabbing in Cedar Rapids that left three people injured, according to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
Malique Johnson, 26, of Hiawatha, is charged with one count of going armed with intent and two counts each of willful injury resulting in bodily injury and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.
According to a criminal complaint, Malique Johnson stabbed two people — Malianna Johnson and Aryah Ash — who were at a party Sunday night outside a residence in the 1200 block of Ellis Boulevard NW, Cedar Rapids.
The victims told police that Malique Johnson came out of the house and started swinging his arm around with something in his hand, stabbing multiple people. Both Malianna Johnson and Ash had stab wounds that appeared to have come from a sharp knife, although police were unable to locate or positively identify the weapon used.
According to the police department press release, officers were called to the scene at 11:09 p.m., and when they arrived they found three victims with non-life threatening stab wounds who were all taken to the hospital for treatment. The complaint and release don’t indicate the identity of the third stabbing victim.
Allante Johnson, 30, also was arrested after the incident and charged with interference with official acts and public intoxication. A criminal complaint for Allante Johnson was redacted before being uploaded to Iowa courts online, to remove information about the charges as well as his birthday and town of residence.
Both defendants had their first appearances in court Monday. Allante Johnson was released after signing two unsecured bond forms for a total of $740, meaning he will be fined that amount if he fails to appear for future scheduled court dates. Malique Johnson remains at the Linn County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
