Elsie Berlee Young was born January 19, 1939, in Tingley, Iowa, the daughter of Homer Edward & Velma Irene (Wycoff) Briner. She graduated from Cambira High School in 1957 and went on to take her EMT Course in Chariton. She worked on the Iowa County Ambulance and as a CNA at the University of Iowa Hospital. On December 15, 1972, Elsie was united in marriage to Glen Keith Young in Princeton, Missouri. She lived in Chariton, Coralville and Williamsburg, before moving to Colonial Manor in Amana in July of 2019. Elsie was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Williamsburg. She enjoyed doing macrame and watching TV. Elsie died on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Colonial Manor in Amana, at the age of 86 years.
She is survived by her daughters Dixie (Ed) Bandy of Nevada, Missouri and Darla (David) Hulseberg of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren, Adam Bauer, Drew (Jessie Myer) Bauer, Laura (Barry) Dietrich, Benjamin (Kim) Hulseberg, Quenton Hulseberg, Kristy (Jammie) Lee, Joshua Bandy and Jason (Heather) Bandy; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister Della Craig of Corydon; a brother Robert Briner of Agency; a sister-in-law Myrtle Briner; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; husband; a brother Bill Briner and a sister-in-law Marilyn Briner.
A memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Essence of Life Hospice or Colonial Manor of Amana. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
