Daniel Patrick Johnson, 71, of Swisher, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loved ones. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2025, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Brosh Chapel. Burial will be in Shueyville Cemetery.
Dan was born on October 7, 1953, to Clarence and Alice (Dougherty) Johnson in Waukon, Iowa, and the family moved to Swisher when he was a child. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School in 1971. Dan was united in marriage to Pat Fandrey on October 11, 1980. He worked at ADM for over 42 years, retiring January of 2016. He enjoyed deer hunting in Waukon, fishing in Canada, raising and hunting with his German Shorthairs, pheasant hunting, canoe trips, family vacations, wintering in Texas, hog roasts, 4th of July parties, and most of all spending time with friends and family. Dan had a great sense of humor and loved to tell many lively stories.
Dan is survived by his loving wife Pat Johnson; his children Fauna Fandrey and Ben Johnson (Mindy Seiffert); his sisters Joan Chalupsky and Judy (Jerry) Nicholls; his brother Don Johnson; sisters-in-law Becky Johnson and Nancy (Fred) Koontz; as well as his nieces, nephews and several close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ed and Ken Johnson; brother-in-law Jim Chalupsky; sisters-in-law Sherry Johnson and Linda Johnson; his father- and mother-in-law Bob and Kay Fandrey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
