Myra was born on August 2, 1948, in Davenport, Iowa, to Leonard and Frieda (Siemsen) Conrad. She graduated from Clarence High School with the Class of 1967 and went on to attend cosmetology school in Cedar Rapids. Myra later owned and operated her own salon, Vi’s Salon, in Tipton, Iowa. On April 3, 1970, she married Gene Krenz at the Rock Island Courthouse.
She worked for 37 years at Oral-B in Iowa City, where she held roles in quality control and as a lab technician, before retiring in 2014. Myra was active in bowling leagues in both Tipton and Iowa City and enjoyed time with her YMCA Swim Ladies group. She loved watching Iowa Hawkeye football and attended several games over the years.
In 1999, Myra and Gene became proud grandparents to Collin and Mads, who brought immense joy to her life. She loved boating on the Cedar River with her Rochester gang and enjoyed playing euchre and board games with family. Myra also cherished hosting holiday gatherings and going on family cruises.
She enjoyed spending time online, especially on Facebook and other social media. Deeply interested in politics, Myra often hosted events at her home and served as a Precinct Captain for Hillary Clinton.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Gene Krenz of Cedar Rapids; son, Jusdyn Krenz of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Collin Krenz (Lillian Foley), and Mads Krenz (Kensey Sydness); and son-in-law, Eric McEnaney of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Frieda Conrad; son, T. Scott Krenz; and daughter-in-law, Ramona Krenz.
Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
