CEDAR RAPIDS — Matthew 25 has named an interim executive director to lead the organization through its impending leadership transition.
The organization recently tapped community building director Courtney Ball to serve as interim executive director after the July 15 departure of current director and co-founder Clint Twedt-Ball.
Ball is a co-founder of the Cedar Rapids nonprofit and brother to Twedt-Ball. Per a news release, he will step into the director role until Matthew 25’s board of directors can complete a nationwide search for Twedt-Ball’s replacement.
“Courtney brings a deep commitment to our mission and a long-standing presence that fosters trust and continuity across the entire organization,” board president Ryan Anderson said in the release. “Throughout his years of service, he has built strong relationships with our team, our partners, and the broader community.”
Twedt-Ball in June announced his intent to step down from his role as executive director to pursue other professional opportunities. He and Ball founded the organization in 2006, and it has since become a staple in west Cedar Rapids.
The faith-based nonprofit now offers a variety of community-focused programs and runs the Cultivate Hope Corner Store community grocer at 604 Ellis Blvd. NW and Groundswell Cafe, a pay-it-forward cafe at 201 Third Ave. SW.
The board of directors intends to spend the next several months searching for Twedt-Ball’s replacement, although no set timeline has been established.
“I am incredibly confident in Matthew 25’s leadership team and our staff,” Ball wrote in the release. “Over the next several months as the board searches for a new permanent executive director, the staff and I will work together to keep helping our neighbors every day, carrying on the spirit and innovative work this organization has become known for in Cedar Rapids.”
Farewell to Clint Twedt-Ball
Matthew 25 will host a community open house to celebrate the contributions of outgoing executive director and co-founder Clint Twedt-Ball.
That event will take place from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, with remarks to take place at 5:15 p.m. at Groundswell Cafe, 201 Third Ave SW.
