Once again, Congress is cowering to Trump's threat of running candidates against sitting Congress people who oppose his authoritarian policies. There is a long list of egregious behaviors starting with cutting Congressional appropriations to USAID. Apparently, the death of thousands of children and mothers, as long as they are not Americans, is of no concern to them.
And now we face another failure of courage as Republicans are all on board to codify financial and health harms to millions of Americans. Trump has promulgated the lie that the problems lie with abuses in Medicaid. As they well know, if they want to act as a true patriot, the real money to be saved is in cutting military spending and addressing the fraud with Medicare Advantage, where insurance and drug companies are bilking lower/middle class taxpayers. But they need their funding for their re-election.
Since the 1980s, $50 trillion has been transferred from the lower 90% to the top 1%. And here we stand this week, happily awarding the billionaires more money which they can spend on lavish weddings rather than funding food pantries.
