DAVENPORT — U.S. marshals from the southern and northern districts of Iowa and the central district of Illinois teamed up in May and with law enforcement agencies and the Iowa Department of Corrections to conduct a five-week fugitive operation, which resulted in 52 arrests of people wanted on outstanding warrants.
"Operation River Run" was conducted from May 19 to June 20 in Scott County and area communities, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. The local, state and/or federal outstanding warrants were for fugitives with pending criminal charges for homicide, guns, drugs, assaults, sex offenses and other crimes of violence.
Most of these individuals were arrested in Scott County and others were arrested in Rock Island County, Ill. There were other arrests between Sioux City and Chicago.
The Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force- Davenport Division is composed of the following federal, state and local agencies: U.S. Marshals Service; Des Moines and Lee county sheriff’s offices; Burlington, Fort Madison, Ottumwa and Coralville police departments; Iowa Department of Corrections Fugitive Team; Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
