Eleanor (Tudy) Streletzky
Cedar Rapids
Eleanor was born on February 18, 1924 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Philip and Irene Ternes. She was called home to eternity in heaven on June 22, 2025. She was 101 years old. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 5, 2025, at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held from 9-10 AM, Saturday, July 5 at the church. Entombment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
The nickname Tudy came from one of her brothers when she was a child, and it stuck forever. If you knew her, you called her Tudy. She graduated from The Academy of the Visitation in Dubuque and went to work as a telephone operator for the Bell System. Over the next 42 years she rose through various positions, retiring in 1984.
She was the beloved wife of Eldon (Stretch) Streletzky; cherished sister of Charles, Howard and Eugene; favorite aunt of David, Mark, Patricia and Paul, and dearest friend to many.
She was a long-time member of All Saints Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, made prayer shawls, and donated countless hours.
She was active all her life, playing golf and tennis. She was a member of the Cedar Rapids Ladies Golf League and won the Golden Girls Tournament in 1988. In the winter she and Stretch spent 6 weeks in Sarasota, Florida where it’s always a good day for golf or tennis. Later in life she started riding a stationary bike and walking.
She moved to Meth-Wick Community in 2013 where she made many new friends. She continued to drive, loved Hawkeye football and basketball, attending the symphony, movie nights, and crossword puzzles.
A charitable trust will be established in the name of Eldon and Eleanor Streletzky to continue the legacy of faith and giving.
Memorials may be directed to All Saints Catholic Church or Meth-Wick Community.
