The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art will offer free admission this summer for the 16th year of their Free Summer Admission Program. Admission to CRMA will be free for all visitors July 1 through Aug. 31, 2025.
“Our Free Summer Accessibility Program — now in its 16th year — is the perfect opportunity for everyone in the community to come into the museum and see all that we have to offer. Thanks to our generous corporate and individual supporters, we are able to suspend our admission fees for everyone for the months of July and August to encourage even greater visitation to the museum’s galleries. Our 16 galleries are all free,” said CRMA Executive Director Sean Ulmer.
This summer, there are four separate temporary exhibitions to experience: “All that Jazz: The Photographs of Carl Van Vechten and George T. Henry,” now through Aug. 31, 2025; “Strokes of Genius: American Impressionism and its Legacy,” now through Sept.14, 2025; “Beyond the Object: Women Working in Abstraction,” now through Oct. 26, 2025; and “Mata Ortiz: Ceramics from the Collection of Norman Sherman and Virginia Chambers Sherman,” now through March 29, 2026.
There are also five other exhibitions currently on display, including: “Art In Roman Life,” “Beyond the Prairie: Midwestern Art from the Collection,” “Grant Wood: From Farm Boy to American Icon,” “Marvin Cone: An American Vision” and “Mauricio Lasansky: Master Printmaker.”
The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.; Thursdays from noon to 8 p.m.; and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Grant Wood Studio hours are noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays until Dec. 31, 2025, with free docent guided tours on the hour and half-hour.
