Connie Lee Phillips, 76, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, June 20, 2025, at her home. A visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Connie was born February 15, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Richard and Leona (Henderson) Jones. She attended McKinley High School and later married Bruce “Bud” Phillips, Sr. on January 10, 1966. Over the years, Connie worked for the Cedar Rapids Parks Department and held accounting roles with several local businesses. However, once her grandchildren came along her focus shifted to helping care for them, a role she cherished deeply. Connie had a love for reading and spent countless hours crocheting hats and scarves, which she generously donated to children and the elderly. She was also a passionate genealogist.
Survivors include her daughter, Carrie Sue Phillips of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Nathan Phillips (Liz Blanchett) and Kaylea Phillips (Charles Adams), all of Cedar Rapids; five great-grandchildren, Hayden Habeger, Jaxon Phillips, Mazin Phillips, Leonnah Phillips, and Naoma Phillips; best friends, Cathy Davis and Bill Cones, both of Cedar Rapids; Goddaughter, Melissa Cones of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Leona Jones; husband, Bud Phillips, Sr.; son, Bruce E. Phillips, Jr.; daughters, Dana and Darci; sisters, Leeann Hildenbrand, Naoma Jones, and Delores Martin; brother, Alan Jones and his wife Catherine; and grandson, Seth Phillips.
