Why no local coverage from ‘No Kings’ protest?

I was so inspired by the No Kings Rally in Cedar Rapids. It was attended by 1,000’s of people, who were chanting, drumming, waving flags, displaying homemade and supplied posters, wearing costumes and genuinely celebrating the fact that we were of like minds, on the same page, united, whatever you want to call it. It was invigorating; it exuded hope; and it demonstrated that we weren’t alone as individuals in our beliefs, our values and morals.
I was so disappointed in the lack of local coverage. I was so excited about finally watching the news and reading in the paper of our efforts to support positive, peaceful change. Instead, it’s Trump’s usual circus and parade. I was hoping that the people’s choice to display their power in numbers, power in unison, and power in demonstrating our freedom of speech would override the daily repetition of negative rhetoric that we are subjected to hearing or reading.
Photos and videos needed to be splashed across our screens and in our local newspaper of the colorful collective of a well represented crowd of concerned citizens from all walks of life saying the same thing … power to the people!
